Peach Habanero BBQ Sauce

Peach Habanero BBQ Sauce
A very easy transition from the East Side Sauce recipe if you are looking to add some sweet heat to a BBQ feature meat. Great on ribs and chicken wings, either smoked or grilled. Not the ribs, don't grill the ribs. Please. Also this can go very wrong if you are not wearing protection…on your hands. See notes below!
Equipment
- Rubber gloves (or don't rub your eyes or go to the bathroom – I promise its awful)
- Immersion blender
Ingredients
- 8 Habanero Peppers (See notes)
- 4 cup Ketchup
- 1 cup Peach preserves
- 1 cup Apple cider vinegar
- .75 cup Brown sugar
- .5 cup Molasses
- .75 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup Orange juice
- 1 tbsp Mustard
- 2 tbsp Minced garlic (actually PREFER jarlic in this recipe)
- 2 tsp Chili powder
- 1-2 tsp Black pepper
Instructions
- Wear gloves, and remove the stems. Then sauté the peppers in a little bit of oil to release the heat and flavor from the peppers. The more you break the skins, the hotter the finished sauce will be.
- Add the rest of the ingredients to a large saucepan or pot, and whisk together while heating to combine. Add the peppers and simmer for 30-45 minutes.
- Test the sauce for it's heat and either remove the peppers, or use an immersion/countertop blender to combine. If combining, I would simmer for another 15 minutes to disperse the heat and balance the sauce out.
Notes
This one can get finicky depending on the heat potential of your peppers. I really recommend straining out the peppers and blending in 1-2 at a time to increase your heat if in fact it does need more. It can go overboard, so test often and make sure it’s not inedible.
Speaking of peppers – they have a great deal of capsaicin in them and if you think not wearing gloves is a cool idea, it might in fact not be a cool idea. Because then you rub your eyes like I did and then bonus round, also went to the bathroom. Now a shot glass full of milk works WONDERS on both these afflictions, but to keep this PG-13, I will only show you the top half.
